Oussema Dammak
About
I’m Oussema Dammak, a Master’s-qualified Oud specialist and music educator. Graduate of the Higher Institute of Music of Tunis (ISM Tunis) with an MA in Music & Musicology (Performance – Oud), awarded High Distinction (June 2025). I have 7+ years’ teaching experience at conservatorys, a cultural center, and a private school. I teach oud and solfeggio reading (pitch & rhythm), ear training, melodic/rhythmic dictation, music theory, and piano initiation (Levels 1–2). I perform and teach across styles, from traditional Arabic repertoire and maqam to beginner-friendly pieces designed for fast wins.

Teaching Style
Joyful, structured, and practical. We play first, analyse second so you hear and feel progress from day one. I set 2–3 clear targets each week and pair them with short PDFs, slow demo videos, and simple backing tracks. Lessons blend technique (rīsha, tone, intonation) with literacy—solfeggio reading (pitch & rhythm) and musical dictation (melodic & rhythmic)—so you can read, hear, and perform confidently.
Curriculum
-
Step-by-step scaffolding: tiny, achievable goals that build momentum.
-
Inclusive & supportive: I differentiate parts so every learner (including EAL/SEN) can succeed.
-
Assessment for learning: quick check-ins, mini rubrics, and periodic performance clips to measure progress.
-
Repertoire + maqam: Ajam/Nahawand first, then Hijaz and beyond; idiomatic ornaments and phrasing.
-
For advanced players: articulation, tone colors, modulation, taqsim frameworks, and recording-ready takes.
-
Practice culture: 10–20 min/day for beginners (25–40 min for advancing); optional 60-sec practice journal.
Typical lesson flow: warm-up & review → new concept → guided practice → short reading/dictation task → apply in a piece/taqsim → 3 take-home targets.
