Narek Kelian
About
Hello! My name is Narek Kelian, and I am a professional violinist and teacher with over five years of experience working with students of all ages and levels. I specialize in helping each student find their most resonant and beautiful sound, because I believe that tone is the heart of music. From there, we build technique step by step, making lessons both effective and inspiring.
My teaching style is patient, structured, and flexible. I focus on classical foundations — the core of every genre — while also welcoming students who want to explore other styles such as popular music, film scores, and wedding repertoire. Along with violin, I also teach beginner piano, music theory, ear training, sight-reading, and performance skills.
I have taught both group and private lessons, though I especially enjoy working one-on-one, where I can tailor each lesson to the student’s goals. Whether you are preparing for auditions, aiming to join an orchestra, or simply learning for enjoyment, I will guide you with clear methods, encouragement, and a focus on developing confident, expressive playing.
Beyond teaching, I perform regularly at weddings, events, and concerts, and my violin performances have reached a wide international audience online, with over 233,000 followers on Facebook. This performing background allows me to help students not only with technique but also with stage presence, musicality, and adapting their playing for real-world settings.
I teach both online and in person, and I also offer short trial lessons so new students can get comfortable before committing. Above all, my goal is to make learning music enjoyable, motivating, and deeply rewarding.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is patient, structured, and encouraging, with a strong emphasis on helping each student find their most resonant and beautiful sound on the violin. I adapt lessons to each student’s needs — whether they are complete beginners or advanced players — and balance discipline with creativity so learning stays inspiring. I believe every student can grow at their own pace, and I create an environment where confidence and enjoyment go hand in hand.
Curriculum
I build lessons around a classical foundation, since technique and sound quality are the basis for all genres, but I also incorporate other styles such as popular music, film music, and event repertoire when students are interested.
For beginners, I often start with Suzuki Method books for developing fundamentals and ear training, as well as simple classical pieces to establish correct posture and tone. For advancing students, I recommend etude collections such as Ševčík and Kreutzer, plus solo repertoire tailored to their level. I also include scales, sight-reading, and ear training in every lesson to strengthen overall musicianship.
My primary focus is on helping students develop a pure, resonant tone and then expanding technique around that sound. Every step of technique is guided by sound quality — this way students not only play correctly but also beautifully.
