Voice Lessons and Vocal Coaching with Eulis Kay
Singer with Disney (California, Tokyo, and Paris) • Songwriter • Multi-Instrumentalist • Yogi
Personalized lessons to improve your vocal range, stamina, agility, musicality, and performance — across Pop, Classical, Musical Theatre, R&B, Country, and more.
My approach is different from traditional singing teachers and vocal coaches. I don’t rely on rigid lesson plans or the same boring warmups you'll find on YouTube. Every singer is unique, every body is different — and every lesson should reflect that.
I begin each session with two simple questions: “What have you been working on?” and “How can I help?” That approach has brought success to my students and my own career for over twenty years. The songs you bring, the ideas you have about your singing and performance — those are important.
I’ve built my performing career on adaptability: from barbershop to opera, from jazz to playing Disney villains like Scar and Dr. Facilier. I bring that same flexibility to my teaching so that together we can find what works for your voice — whether you bring me Ave Maria or All About That Bass. Together, we’ll pull out the most musicality in your singing and help you communicate it with clarity and confidence.
We’ll build a personalized philosophy of singing that fits you and your instrument — empowering you with the tools to coach yourself. It’s the promise I’ve made to hundreds of students, and I extend that promise to you.
Let’s make great music together.
— Eulis
Teaching Style
Over the past several years I have focused much of my personal growth on developing my ears' ability to pick out and pinpoint vocal “placement”, resonance, subtleties of timbre, changes in pitch, breath support, air speed and flow, pronunciation and diction, and, in general, the way in which all of these work together to create style. From these assessments, I work with the student’s particular needs to address each area individually and based on the learning style of each person.
To illustrate to the student their method as I see and hear it, as well as ways in which they might make gentle changes to facilitate the ease of singing — be they changes to the tessitura (range), length of phrase, tone color, the release of unnecessary tension etc.— I make use of vocalise (vocal exercises), simile and metaphor, allegory, examples from recorded performances, demonstration, self assessment, and techniques to “trick” the voice into responding in a different way. From there, the student experiences a new sensation from which they can learn and add to their own toolbox. In addition, I often use videos, diagrams, and texts on anatomy and physiology as well as physicality to help my more visual/tactile/kinesthetic learners. I feel that all of these tools work together to provide a unique and personalized learning experience that each student can make their own.
I stand by the philosophy that most of the progress you will make during our time together will not be with me... not during our sessions; but instead, the majority of the progress you witness will be made in the epiphanies you have on your own, during the time you spend practicing and drilling your specific areas of difficulty. As a teacher, I serve as more of a guide, directing you towards ideas, theories, and concepts that you may or may not have thought of on your own, and help to expand those ideas in a way that best helps you make them your own. I also aim to act as a mirror to help you gain an objective view of your progress and challenges, and to quantify your own views about each technique and how they affect your performance.
Curriculum
My teaching approach is adaptive and student-centered. I believe that no two singers learn or grow in exactly the same way, so I draw from a range of disciplines to meet each voice where it is. Rooted in my early Bel Canto training, my method expands to include elements of Speech Level Singing, Alexander Technique, Hatha Yoga, and Sports Performance Psychology — each chosen to support freedom, awareness, and balance in body and mind.
I incorporate visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning tools to help concepts “click” in a way that fits each student’s style. Lessons may include the use of anatomical diagrams and models, demonstration videos, guided listening, and personalized exercises. I also weave in body mapping, storytelling, and real-world examples from my performance career to help singers connect technique to artistry.
Whether you’re training for a professional career or exploring your voice for personal fulfillment, you’ll find a multifaceted, accessible learning environment designed to build confidence, self-understanding, and long-term vocal health.
