About

Hi! I’m Noah, a trombonist, euphonium and baritone player, composer, and educator with over eight years of private teaching experience both in person and online. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Trombone Performance with a concentration in Jazz Studies from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

As a performer, I marched with Music City Drum Corps (2017) and Carolina Crown (2019) before spending several years performing as a cruise ship house band musician. I’m currently an active bandleader and freelance composer, working primarily in jazz fusion and contemporary ensemble settings.

Teaching Style

I take a patient, individualized approach to every student. Lessons are structured but flexible—designed to meet you where you are and build from your strengths. My goal is to help you not only develop solid fundamentals, but also to connect deeply with your own sound, creativity, and musical voice.

I believe in guiding students to set achievable goals, stay motivated, and build confidence, whether they’re learning their first notes or preparing advanced repertoire.

Curriculum

My teaching adapts to each student’s level and goals, combining traditional methods with creative exercises. For brass fundamentals and technique, I often draw from:

  • Arban’s Complete Method for Trombone or Euphonium

  • Bordogni Vocalises (Rochut editions)

  • Remington Warm-Up Studies

  • J.J. Johnson Transcriptions and jazz etudes for advanced students

  • Custom warmups, transcription work, and improvisation exercises

For students studying jazz, improvisation, or theory, we use a mix of chord-scale studies, ear training, and real-time application in tunes and solos. For marching/DCI students, I focus on sound projection, endurance, and ensemble awareness drawn from my own drum corps experience.
