Hi, I’m Holland — a professional guitarist and teacher with over 25 years of musical experience and 14 years of teaching. Originally from the U.S. and now based in Vietnam, I perform actively while offering lessons to students worldwide.
I specialize in electric and acoustic guitar across rock, pop, blues, jazz, and finger style styles. I also have a background in classical music. Over the years, I’ve helped students of all ages and skill levels develop strong technique, confidence, and a real connection to their instrument.
In addition to teaching, I’ve performed on the national TV show “Rock Viet” and competed and performed at Hozo 2023, one of Vietnam’s major music festivals. These experiences bring a real-world, performing artist’s perspective into my lessons — practical, creative, and focused on helping you play music that excites you.
Teaching Style
My approach is patient, encouraging, and student-centered. I believe learning guitar should be structured but never rigid — lessons are personalized to your pace, interests, and goals.
Whether we’re learning songs, exploring technique, or diving into music theory, I focus on helping you understand why things work so you can play and create more confidently. I use clear explanations, hands-on examples, and goal-based practice strategies to keep lessons fun and productive.
Curriculum
Lessons are built around your individual needs and musical interests, using a mix of structured exercises, ear training, and real songs. I teach through both song-based learning and theory application, ensuring that every concept you learn directly connects to playing music you enjoy.
Students receive personalized materials including PDFs, chord charts, and guided practice plans.

• I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Humanities in 2011, where my capstone project explored rock music, The Beatles, and eco-sociology, blending cultural studies and music analysis. This foundation deepened my understanding of how music connects people and shapes communities.
• I have been teaching private guitar lessons for over 15 years, helping students of all ages and levels develop technical skills, musical confidence, and personal expression. My approach bridges traditional technique with creative exploration.
• I am a professional guitarist and recording artist with the band Coastal Connection, with whom I’ve released two full-length albums on MMusic Records, a subsidiary of Universal Music Vietnam.
• I performed as lead guitarist with Coastal Connection on the televised competition Rock Việt (2021), and again as lead guitarist performing alongside international artist Luis Zappiola at the Hozo International Music Festival (2023). With Coastal Connection we were the runners up in the peoples pick award for best live band in 2024 from 'Where in Ho Chi Minh City'.
• I am the 2011 New Hampshire State Talent Contest Winner, a recognition that marked the beginning of my professional career as both a musician and educator.
