Lara
About
My name is Lara, I’m 25 years old and originally from Melbourne, Australia, though I’m currently based in New York City. I have eight years of experience teaching violin and viola to students ranging from pre-schoolers to high schoolers, both in person and online.
My mission as a teacher is to nurture confidence and creativity in every student—both musically and personally. I offer individual violin and viola lessons in 30-, 45-, and 60-minute sessions, thoughtfully tailored to each learner’s pace, personality, and goals. Whether you’re seeking violin or viola instruction, or guided practice support, I’ll customize our lessons to fit your unique needs!
Feel free to message me for more details or testimonials! :)
Teaching Style
Having been trained in the Suzuki method as a child, I now draw from Suzuki and other established and emerging methodologies to create a flexible, student-centered approach. I believe in meeting students where they are, adapting instruction and communication to best support their learning. Lessons include technique, repertoire, ear training, music theory, and note reading—supporting well-rounded musicianship. With a strong interest in psychology and child development, I aim to create a warm, encouraging environment where students can thrive.
