About

I’m a Trinity Grade 8–certified electronic keyboard player, and I’ve also been performing for several years as part of my band “Next Saturday.” We’ve played at many college culturals across Chennai (India) and have been fortunate to win quite a few of them. I also had the chance to judge a music event at Loyola College, which was a fun and eye-opening experience.

When it comes to teaching, I like to keep things simple, relaxed, and enjoyable. I mainly work with beginners and focus on helping them feel comfortable with the keyboard, understand the basics, and start playing the songs they love. Every student learns differently, so I try to keep my approach flexible and encouraging. Whether your goal is to learn casually or eventually try Trinity exam pieces, I’m happy to guide you at your own pace.

Teaching Style

My teaching style is relaxed, patient, and beginner-friendly. I like to break concepts down into simple steps so students don’t feel overwhelmed, and I always make sure they understand why they’re playing something, not just how.

I focus on helping students build confidence through small, achievable goals—learning basic hand position, simple rhythms, chords, and familiar melodies that make the keyboard feel fun from day one. I also try to match each lesson to the student’s pace and musical interests, whether that’s pop songs, film themes, or preparing for Trinity exams.

Most importantly, I keep the atmosphere positive and encouraging. Every student learns differently, so I adapt my approach to what works best for them and make sure they enjoy the process while steadily improving each week.

Curriculum

My teaching method is a mix of practical playing and simple theory. I start with basic hand position, easy five-finger patterns, and simple melodies so students can begin playing right away. As they get more comfortable, we gradually add chords, rhythms, and music reading at a relaxed pace.

For beginners, I usually recommend a few widely used books such as:

- Alfred’s Basic Piano Library: Lesson Book Level 1

- Alfred’s Basic Adult Piano Course: Lesson Book Level 1

- Trinity College London Electronic Keyboard Exam Books (Initial – Grade 1) if the student wants a formal path.

These books are very popular and easy for students to follow, but you don’t need to buy anything immediately. We can choose the right book after the trial lesson, depending on your age, goals, and learning style. I’m also happy to teach pop/film songs alongside the basics.
