Douglas Blatt

Hey y’all! My name is Douglas Blatt, and I’m a professional drummer and UT Austin alum with a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Drum Set Performance. I’ve been playing drums for over 15 years and have performed internationally, toured with bands, and appeared at major festivals including Austin City Limits.

My drumming has been streamed over 10 million times on Spotify, and I’ve won international drumming competitions in China, Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. I’m comfortable across a wide range of styles, from rock and indie to jazz, funk, and improvisation.

Beyond performing, I genuinely enjoy helping students grow through music. I’m patient, encouraging, and focused on creating a relaxed, supportive environment where students feel comfortable learning at their own pace. I work with students of all ages and experience levels, whether you’re picking up the sticks for the first time or looking to level up your playing.

I’m based in Austin, Texas, and work with students in North Austin, Pflugerville, Round Rock, and Cedar Park.

My teaching style is friendly, flexible, and student-focused. I believe the best progress happens when lessons are both structured and fun, so I tailor each lesson to the student’s goals, interests, and experience level.

We can work on fundamentals, technique, timing, reading, and coordination, or focus on learning favorite songs, developing groove, and building confidence behind the kit. For more advanced students, I also help with improvisation, musicality, and genre-specific playing.
