About

Hello, I’m Anand — a professionally trained fine artist based in Bangalore, India, specializing in watercolor painting.

I enjoy helping beginners discover watercolor in a calm, supportive, and approachable way. If you’ve always wanted to paint but felt unsure where to begin, my lessons are designed to make learning comfortable, clear, and confidence-building rather than overwhelming.

I hold a Diploma in Fine Arts (DFA) from Jain (Deemed-to-be University), completed in 2022–2023 through formal training in fine arts and painting. I have over 10 years of teaching experience in the field of art and painting education.

Professionally, I have worked as an Art Faculty member at Isha Samskriti, a school established by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev and the Isha Foundation, where I taught art and painting for eight years. I have been serving as the Head of the Department of Art at Delhi Public School Bangalore East for 4 years now, teaching painting to students in Grades 11 and 12.

I have also served as the 'South India Head' of the International Watercolor Society (India Chapter) from 2022 to 2024 and was a People’s Choice Award winner at Kalarambh’s National Watercolor Competition. In addition to institutional teaching, I conduct online watercolor painting classes for adult beginners through Zoom and Google Meet. Alongside teaching, it is my passion to practice watercolor painting, including plein air painting actively, focusing on landscapes and still life in both detailed and loose styles. These ongoing practices help me keep my lessons practical, clear, and grounded in real painting situations.

Teaching Style

I primarily work with beginners in watercolor painting, including adults who are learning painting for the first time or revisiting it after many years.

My teaching focuses on building strong fundamentals such as water control, brush handling, color mixing, washes, tonal values, and simple composition. These are explained clearly using live demonstrations and easy practice exercises. I also help students learn how to observe their subject—seeing light and dark clearly, noticing soft and hard edges, simplifying forms into basic shapes, and making thoughtful color choices while painting.

These fundamentals are gradually applied to help students complete simple watercolor paintings, such as landscapes, everyday objects, or still life, with confidence. Lessons are structured yet flexible, allowing students to learn at a comfortable pace, ask questions freely, and build confidence through regular practice.

Curriculum

Lessons are guided through live demonstrations and simple practice exercises created specifically for each student. No prior textbooks or materials are required.
