About

Mitch Hood is a guitarist, songwriter, and producer whose career spans punk clubs to national tours. He broke out in the late ’90s with East Coast indie punk band Grandview, opening for The Click Five, The Ataris, MxPx, and Ghoti Hook. Since then, he has toured with Rick Springfield, worked with Dana Alexandra (The Voice), Jake Puliti (American Idol) and produced NPR-acclaimed rapper Kuf Knotz. Now the guitarist for Small Town Titans, Hood continues touring nationally. In Spring 2026, he joins The Warped Band (Official Warped Tour Tribute) for a March–April tour while also playing various festival dates with country artist Gillian Smith.

Teaching Style

Mitch Hood brings a laid-back, supportive approach to teaching, creating a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable learning and growing. He tailors lessons around the material and techniques that excite each student most. Drawing from his experience as a touring guitarist and music producer, he shares real-world insight into musicianship and the industry while building skills, confidence, and creativity.

Curriculum

Mitch Hood takes an ear-first approach to teaching, emphasizing listening, feel, and musical understanding over strictly following method books. While fundamentals and theory are woven into every lesson, the focus stays on developing strong technique and real-world musicianship. His approach helps students connect with music naturally, training their ears and instincts alongside their hands.

Mitch Hood is a touring guitarist with Small Town Titans and The Warped Band, and has toured with Rick Springfield. He serves as music director and producer for artists including Dana Alexandra, Kuf Knotz, and Gillian Smith, and holds an endorsement with Taylor Guitars and Friedman Amplifires, reflecting his experience as a performer and producer.
