About

I am a Music Educator and Performer with over 24 years of experience teaching private and group lessons. I teach drums to students of all ages and levels and guitar to beginner and intermediate students.

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education with Honors and an Associate of Arts in Drum Performance from the Musicians Institute (Hollywood, CA), where I graduated with a 3.97 GPA. In addition, I have over 30 years of experience as an active touring and recording musician, with several albums recorded in Los Angeles, Germany, and Brazil.

I have recorded with renowned producers such as Roy Z (Judas Priest, Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson), Charlie Bauerfeind (Motörhead, Saxon, Helloween, Blind Guardian), Rafael Bittencourt (Angra), and Adair Daufembach (Tony MacAlpine, Angra, Kiko Loureiro).

As a touring musician, I have performed extensively across the United States, Europe, and South America as the official drummer for Paul Di’Anno (Iron Maiden), Graham Bonnet (Rainbow, Alcatrazz), and Marco Mendoza (Whitesnake, Journey, Thin Lizzy). I have also performed live with Bobby Kimball (Toto), Roy Z (Bruce Dickinson, Rob Halford), Joe Lynn Turner (Deep Purple, Rainbow), Kiko Loureiro (Megadeth), and Rafael Bittencourt (Angra).

In 2019, my band Rage In My Eyes opened for Iron Maiden in a soccer stadium for 40,000 fans.

I currently offer in-person and in-home lessons in Orange County, California, as well as online lessons for students worldwide.

Teaching Style

As a teacher, I strive to provide a high-quality learning experience, with lessons that are both effective and enjoyable, always focusing on quality and convenience. Over the years, I have helped thousands of students reach their musical goals.

I believe it is very important to choose a teacher you can relate to musically and who is a good fit for your goals. Your teacher should understand your expectations and what you want to achieve.

I begin with a trial lesson, which gives us the opportunity to get to know each other. During this lesson, we talk about your goals, your current level, and the music you enjoy—your favorite songs and artists. I make sure the trial lesson is productive, engaging, and fun, so you leave feeling excited about moving forward.

I have developed my own Drum Method, refined through more than two decades of teaching experience. In addition, I incorporate several respected books and methods written by renowned artists and educators that have proven to be highly effective.

My teaching style is friendly and easy-going, and I build great relationships with my students and their parents. At the same time, I challenge my students and encourage them to reach their full potential as musicians.

Curriculum

Over the 30+ years that I have been teaching and performing, I have learned a tremendous amount. My knowledge comes from real-world experience—both as a teacher and as a performer—and I am more than happy to pass it on to my students.

Some of the methods I use are:

Charley Wilcoxon: 150 Rudimental Solos

George Lawrence Stone: Stick Control

Joe Morello: Master Studies

David Garibaldi: Future Sounds

Benny Greb: The Language of Drumming

Pat Petrillo:, Hands, Grooves & Fills
