Elseba Akinyi
About
Hello! My name is Elseba, and I am a passionate music tutor with over 5 years of teaching experience, helping students develop their voices and musical skills. I have worked with learners of different ages and levels, guiding them to improve their pitch, vocal control, confidence, and musical expression.
My musical journey began in 2016 at A.C.K. School, where I started formally studying music. From 2017, I actively participated in music festivals, progressing to the national level in various categories including solo performances, choir, and small choir performances. These experiences helped me build a strong foundation in both vocal technique and musical performance.
In 2020, I continued my music studies at Kenya High School, where I further developed my musical abilities. During this time, I again participated in national music festivals, performing in both solo and choir categories. I also completed my music examinations and was awarded a certificate after successfully passing, which strengthened my theoretical and practical understanding of music.
After completing my studies, I began tutoring students around my home area through house calls, where I gained hands-on teaching experience and worked closely with students to improve their singing abilities and confidence.
I have been actively teaching music to students from different backgrounds and countries on another platform since 2024. This experience has helped me become more adaptable and effective as an online tutor.
In addition to teaching, I have been a member of two choirs and have performed in solo music festivals, which has given me valuable experience in harmony, stage presence, and musical interpretation. These experiences allow me to teach students not only how to sing correctly but also how to perform with confidence and expression.
My teaching approach is flexible and student-centered. I adapt my lessons to match each student’s goals, whether they want to sing for fun, improve their technique, or prepare for performances.
My goal is to create a supportive, engaging, and structured learning environment where students feel comfortable exploring their voice and improving step by step.
Whether you are a beginner starting your singing journey or an intermediate singer looking to refine your skills, I would be happy to guide you on your musical path.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is patient, practical, and student-centered. I adapt each lesson based on the student’s goals, level, and musical interests.
In my lessons you can expect:
🎵 A relaxed and encouraging environment
🎵 Clear step-by-step vocal exercises
🎵 Practical application through songs you enjoy
🎵 Feedback to help you improve quickly
🎵 Techniques used by professional singers
I believe learning music should be engaging, fun, and motivating rather than stressful.
Curriculum
My lessons usually follow a structured process:
1. Warm-ups and breathing exercises
We start with exercises that improve breath control, tone, and vocal flexibility.
2. Pitch and ear training
Students learn to sing in tune and develop stronger listening skills.
3. Vocal technique
We work on tone, resonance, projection, and vocal control.
4. Song practice
Students apply techniques using songs they enjoy.
5. Performance and expression
We focus on emotion, stage presence, and musical interpretation.
Learning resources used in my lessons
To help students understand concepts more clearly, I use a variety of learning materials including:
- Selected music-related instructional videos from YouTube for visual demonstrations and deeper explanations
- Music syllabus guidelines to ensure structured learning and proper skill progression
- My personal teaching notes and exercises, developed through my years of teaching and performance experience
These resources help make lessons clearer, more practical, and easier for students to practice even after the lesson.
