Chris Buono
About
Chris Buono is a proud native of the great state of New Jersey where he lives but a few miles from the Atlantic with his wife, two sons and a cat named Maximus Decimus Meridius. A product of both private and public school systems Buono's real education came sitting across a cast of notable six-string savants. Since those days Chris has hustled his way into a guitar teaching career of his own while still an undergad at William Paterson University. Upon entering the "real world" Chris Buono quickly became a dominant figure in the NY/NJ music scene both as a player and educator. Along with working steadily as a sideman in the competitive New York scene and abroad, Buono's educational endeavors quickly progressed from private lesson studios to the esteemed Berklee College of Music as a professor. Previous to and throughout his Berklee years, Chris infiltrated the publishing world as both an author and a regular magazine contributor. Along the journey Buono has written nine books for various publishers including Alfred, Thompson PTR, Cengage Learning and Hal Leonard. Chris's most recent release is "How to Play Outside Guitar Licks” [Hal Leonard]. Buono's magazine byline has been featured in Guitar One, Guitar Player & Just Jazz Guitar among others. Keeping in line with his non-stop content creating ethos Chris bounced from the classroom and publishing to video content creation, most notably as a TrueFire Artist with nearly 50 video courses to his name. Along with his latest release, "Spotlight: Creative Chord Progressions," Chris helped spearhead TrueFire's new Song Lesson initiative. Chris Buono is also a featured instructor for Hal Leonard's Guitarinstructor.com.
Teaching Style
I help make working musicians. If you have serious aspirations to make a go at this and/or you want to be challenged in an organized manner, I'm your guy.
