Kira Mazur
About
I'm Kira Mazur, a professional singer, songwriter, and vocal coach with over 10 years of teaching experience. I've taught hundreds of students of all ages and levels, from complete beginners finding their voice for the first time to intermediate singers preparing for performances and auditions.
My professional journey has taken me from running my own music school in Kyiv, Ukraine, to recording in Paris with the producer behind ZAZ, to competing in Ukraine's national selection for Eurovision 2019. In 2018, I released my debut album and set a national record as the first singer to perform a song during a skydive.
Since relocating to Los Angeles, I've been working closely with Grammy-connected songwriters and producers. I directed five music videos for Bruce Sudano, the legendary songwriter behind hits for Michael Jackson, Dolly Parton, and Donna Summer. We are currently working on a duet together.
My voice is a powerful alto with deep low notes, and I specialize in helping students discover and develop their unique vocal identity rather than copying someone else's sound. I combine strong technical foundations (breath support, resonance, vocal health) with a creative, artist-driven approach to singing.
I teach in English and Ukrainian. I'm based in Los Angeles and available for online lessons worldwide.
Teaching Style
Every voice is unique, and my teaching starts with understanding yours. In your first lesson, I'll listen carefully to where you are right now, what you want to achieve, and what's holding you back. From there, I'll build a personalized plan that works for your voice, your goals, and your musical taste.
My lessons typically include three components: a vocal warm-up tailored to your voice type, technical exercises focused on your current growth area (such as breath control, expanding range, building power, or smoothing transitions between registers), and work on a song you choose or one I recommend. I believe the best way to learn technique is by applying it to real music you love.
I'm direct and honest in my feedback. I won't just tell you "great job" if there's something to fix. But I'm also patient and encouraging. I know from personal experience that vocal growth takes time and trust. My goal is to make you feel safe enough to experiment, fail, and try again, because that's where the real breakthroughs happen.
Whether you want to sing for fun, prepare for an audition, record your first song, or simply feel more confident using your voice, I'd love to work with you. Book a free trial and let's find out what your voice can really do.
Curriculum
I use a combination of classical vocal technique and contemporary methods adapted to each student's genre and goals. Core areas include diaphragmatic breathing, resonance placement, vowel modification, and register blending. For song work, I focus on phrasing, dynamics, and emotional delivery. No textbooks required, I provide all exercises and materials during lessons.
