Jose Castillo

Hello! My name is Jose Castillo. Here is a little back story about myself.  I've been playing drums since I was 11 years old. I was 1st chair in my percussion class through middle school. Won band student of the year, went to solo and ensemble all the way through high school. I went to state solo and ensemble my junior and senior year. In high school I played in marching band. I played marching bass my freshman year and tenors(or quads) my sophomore through senior year.

I went to Richland Community College and played in the symphonic band and steel drum band. I've also played in a bag pipe band. I played at Richland Community College Steel Band Festival. I've also played in multiple bands and performed behind the drum kit. I still play in one now called Los Sleepshakers. We play at different venues across DFW (Double Wide, Tulips, Dallas Art Company, Ruins, Armoury, etc). We currently have a residency at the Canvas hotel in Dallas. 

I've given lessons before at Rockwall ISD. 

I love playing percussion instruments and I have a passion for teaching beginners and helping them achieve their dream of also playing drums!

If your a beginner I would prefer we start with a pair of drum sticks and a practice pad. We'll work on fundamentals and proper technique. Once that is mastered we can go into learning sheet music and if your in school and have a solo or piece you need help with. If there are certain songs you wish to learn(on the drum kit),I can help there as well. It all depends on where your at music wise.
