About
I'm a multi-instrumentalist — guitar, piano, veena, and ukulele — with a background in Carnatic and Jazz music. I hold a Diploma in Contemporary Music from Rainbow Bridge School of Music and have spent 9 years playing, performing, and teaching across NGOs, schools and music academies.
As part of CIEF, I helped run weekly music classes for 200+ government school students, complete beginners who went on to perform live at their annual day and compose their own music. The programme was featured in The Hindu and Rolling Stone India by Anurag Tagat.
Outside of that, I've worked with students one-on-one and continued teaching privately. Every student is different, and I've learned that the best teaching happens when you pay attention to the person in front of you, not just the lesson plan.
Teaching Style
Every lesson starts with where you are that day, not where a syllabus says you should be.
We cover the fundamentals: scales, chords, music theory, and the songs you actually want to play. The lesson always follows you. If something sparks your curiosity mid-session, we explore it. If you need more time on something, we stay there. If you're ready to push forward, we do that too.
I pay attention to how each student thinks. Some people learn through shapes — we use shapes. Some go by ear — we start there. Some students need structure and a clear path. Others need room to experiment, make noise, and find their own sound. I find that figuring out how someone thinks is half the job.
A big part of my lessons is also helping students get past creative blocks, those moments where you feel stuck and don't know why. We work through those together, and over time students start composing their own pieces. That's always one of my favourite parts of teaching.
just bring your guitar and show up curious.
