About
I’m a guitarist, composer, and instructor from Mumbai, India specializing in progressive rock, math rock, fusion, and modern guitar techniques. I completed the Pro Performance Program in Western Jazz at The True School of Music, Mumbai, where I studied contemporary music theory, improvisation, ensemble performance, ear training, and advanced guitar techniques. Over the years, I’ve developed a teaching approach that balances strong fundamentals with creativity, helping students not only improve technically but also discover their own musical voice. My lessons are designed to be engaging, practical, and personalized to each student’s goals, whether they are complete beginners, intermediate players looking to break plateaus, or advanced musicians exploring modern styles and composition.
As a professional musician, I am the founder and guitarist of the progressive rock/math rock band Seihek, whose debut album received coverage from publications including Rolling Stone India, Indian Music Diaries, Ticket Fairy, and Scxne. I'm also associated with other projects in the genre of alternative experimental folk, indie bollywood.
I have performed at festivals and live events across India, including headlining Imphal Indie Fest, and have shared stages with internationally recognized artists such as Animals as Leaders, CHON and Jakub Zytecki. I have performed at various venues such as antisocial, the humming tree, depot48, fandom, XL cafe and much more! Alongside performing and recording, I have several years of experience teaching guitar online through one-on-one lessons, helping students improve in areas such as technique, improvisation, music theory, songwriting, rhythm, ear training, and modern progressive guitar playing. My goal as a teacher is to create a comfortable and motivating learning environment where students feel inspired to grow musically while enjoying the process.
Teaching Style
As a music educator, I previously taught guitar at Swirl Music Academy in Mumbai, where I worked with students of different age groups and skill levels. My lessons are tailored to each student’s goals, musical interests, and current skill level. I believe that learning guitar should feel inspiring and practical rather than repetitive or overwhelming, so I focus on creating a structured but enjoyable learning experience. Whether a student wants to learn their favorite songs, improve technique, understand music theory, write original music, or explore advanced styles like progressive rock, math rock, fusion, and improvisation, I adapt the lessons to fit their direction and pace.
A typical lesson with me combines technique, musical understanding, and creativity. I help students build strong fundamentals such as timing, rhythm, fretboard knowledge, chord vocabulary, picking techniques, ear training, and improvisation while also applying these concepts through real songs, riffs, and exercises. I especially enjoy helping students break out of “practice without progress” by giving them clear goals, structured routines, and practical ways to improve consistency and confidence on the instrument.
One of my strengths as a teacher is helping students understand difficult concepts in a simple and relatable way. Because of my background as a performing and recording musician in progressive and modern guitar music, I can also help students with advanced rhythm concepts, songwriting, composition, arranging, tone building, and developing their own musical identity. Above all, I aim to create a supportive and motivating environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, experimenting creatively, and genuinely enjoying the learning process.
