About

I’m a guitarist, flamenco guitarist, songwriter, arranger, and music educator from La Paz, Bolivia, with over 25 years of experience teaching guitar and more than 30 years as a performing musician.

I teach flamenco guitar, rock guitar, blues, and songwriting to students of different ages and skill levels. Whether you’re a beginner starting your musical journey or an experienced guitarist looking to expand your skills, my goal is to help you become a more confident, creative, and independent musician.

In flamenco guitar lessons, we can work on rasgueados, chord progressions, rhythm, compás, strumming techniques, and songs, adapting the material to your level and musical interests. I also teach electric guitar, rock, blues, improvisation, and lead guitar techniques.

My teaching approach is practical, creative, and personalized. Rather than relying only on endless exercises, we learn through real music, developing technique, musical understanding, listening skills, and expression.

From 2009 to 2021, I worked at Colegio Calvert ACS in La Paz as a Middle and High School Music Teacher and Big Band Director. I taught music in an international school environment, directed student ensembles, and helped students develop their instrumental skills and ability to perform together. I have also taught private music lessons since 2001.

In 2003–2004, I taught university-level courses at Universidad Santo Tomás in La Paz, including Music History I and II and Sound I. My education includes a Higher Technical Diploma in Audiovisual Production from Universidad Santo Tomás, university-level Music Studies at Universidad Loyola, and specialized training in flamenco guitar and percussion at Escuela Alhambra.

As an independent musician and composer, I have released eight original albums since 2003, composing, arranging, recording, and producing my own music. My performance experience includes guitar, keyboards, vocals, original music projects, and tribute productions dedicated to Pink Floyd, Queen, KISS, and The Beatles.

I look forward to helping you explore your musical interests and develop your own musical voice!

Teaching Style

My teaching style is practical, creative and personalized. I believe students learn best when they are playing and making real music rather than simply completing exercises.

I adapt each lesson to the student's level, interests and musical goals. We can work on songs you love, guitar technique, rhythm, improvisation, solos, harmony, songwriting, music theory or developing your own musical ideas.

I encourage students to understand what they are playing, not just memorize notes or chords. My goal is to help you become a more confident, independent and creative musician.

Whether you are a beginner, an experienced player looking to improve, or a songwriter who wants to develop your musical ideas, I will meet you where you are and help you move forward.

Curriculum

Lessons are built around real music and practical musicianship. Depending on your goals, we may work with songs, riffs, chord progressions, scales, rhythm exercises, improvisation, ear training, music theory and songwriting.

I encourage students to bring songs and musical ideas they are interested in. We can learn from the music itself and use it as a starting point to develop technique, musical understanding and creativity.

For guitar students, I can work with rock, blues, progressive rock, punk, fusion and other styles, including rhythm guitar, lead guitar, improvisation and developing solos.

For songwriting students, we can work on melody, harmony, lyrics, structure, arrangement and turning an initial idea into a complete song.

Recommended materials: your instrument, a notebook, and any songs, recordings, music sheet, lyrics or musical ideas you would like to work on. No specific textbook is required.
