Ji Lee

Ji Lee, DMA, is an internationally active flutist and educator, recognized for her achievements as a prizewinner at several prestigious international competitions and for her performances on major stages worldwide. In 2023, she successfully presented a solo recital at Carnegie Hall in New York. Dr. Lee served for seven years as Principal Flutist of the Korea Philharmonic Orchestra and has collaborated with Grammy Award-winning pianist Ursula Oppens as principal flute of the ASU Symphony Orchestra, participating in the world-premiere recording of a new work.

Her international career has taken her across the United States, South Korea, Russia, Austria, Germany, and Japan. She has been invited to perform at prominent events and venues including the Mid-Atlantic Flute Convention, SHE: Women in Music Festival, AZ Musicfest, the National Flute Association Convention, and the National Flute Congress in Japan.

Based in Arizona, Dr. Lee maintains an active career as a performer, educator, and community artist. She serves as a Resident Artist with Arizona State University and performs with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, The Phoenix Symphony, and West Valley Symphony, among other ensembles. Her upcoming engagements include an invitation to join the faculty of the Ochsenhausen Music Academy Summer Festival in Germany in 2027, as well as solo recital and chamber music performances in South Korea at the invitation of The Collab.

Through her performance, teaching, and international collaborations, Dr. Lee continues to build a distinctive artistic career connecting Arizona with the broader global music community.

My teaching style is supportive, personalized, and focused on developing each student’s unique musical voice. I tailor lessons to students of all ages and levels, from beginners and hobbyists to school band, youth orchestra, Regional and All-State preparation, and college auditions. I combine solid technique with musical expression, helping each student build confidence and enjoy their growth as a flutist.
