About

Hi, I am Luis Salas, a comprehensive Venezuelan musician, multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer. I play and teach guitar and electric bass. With 30 years of musical experience, I perform a wide variety of musical genres such as jazz, salsa, blues, rock, pop, bossa nova, samba and milonga, among others.

Why study with me? My three decades of professional experience across multiple genres gives me a unique opportunity to develop versatility and deep musical understanding. I don't just teach technique – I share the authentic knowledge that comes from performing professionally in diverse musical contexts. Whether you're a beginner or advanced player, I'll help you discover your own musical voice while building solid fundamentals that work across all styles.

Teaching Style

Constructive Method: Each topic builds upon the previous ones. For example, understanding major and minor scales (Topic 1) is a prerequisite for grasping harmonization (Topic 2) and subsequently improvisation (Topic 5).

Experiential Learning: The inclusion of improvisation from multiple approaches (major, minor, blues scales, modes) allows students to experiment and develop their own musical language, not just reproduce patterns.

Modular but Interconnected Approach: Although divided into specific topics, there is a clear interrelation. Basic progressions, blues, and II-V-I connect directly with the scales and modes studied previously.

Final Personalization: Topic 6 (repertoire chosen in class) allows adapting the learning to each student's specific interests and level, maintaining motivation.

This method is effective because it combines academic rigor with practical flexibility, ensuring both technical competence and musical creativity.
