Aaron is an educator, oboist, ukulele player, and performer. Aaron graduated from University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a bachelors degree in instrumental music education. He taught middle school and high school band in North Carolina for the past 5 years, and has been teaching private lessons for 7 years.

Hi! I’m a friendly and experienced band teacher specializing in beginner to intermediate students on flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone and French horn. I also offer advanced lessons on clarinet. I love working with students ages 9–18 and helping them build strong fundamentals, confidence, and a love for music.

I’m Xale Slusser, a Los Angeles–based bassoonist and oboist with degrees in performance, composition, and ethnomusicology from Ohio Northern University, the California Institute of the Arts, and UCLA. I teach Bassoon and Oboe (all levels) as well as Saxophones (SATB) and Clarinets (Sopranino–Contra Alto).

Kristi grew up in Lorain, Ohio, just outside of Cleveland. She began playing the flute in her school band in fifth grade but quickly found it unchallenging. By seventh grade, she wanted to quit band altogether, but her mother insisted she stay. Determined to make a change, Kristi switched to the oboe in eighth grade, playing on an old instrument with plastic reeds.

I began studying the oboe 19 years ago and went on to earn a minor degree in Music Performance at the University of Illinois Springfield on a full music scholarship. My classical training gave me a strong foundation in technique, tone production, music reading, and disciplined practice habits—skills I now focus on passing along to beginners in a clear, encouraging way.

Dr. Kelsey Maes currently serves as a Format and Curriculum Advisor in the Graduate College at Arizona State University (ASU), and teaches music courses part-time at Phoenix College, ASU, and oboe lessons at Music & Arts.

Oboist Nicholas Tisherman joined the Colorado Symphony as Second/Assistant Principal Oboe in September 2017. In addition to his appointment in Denver he has appeared as a guest with orchestras across the country, notably the Philadelphia Orchestra, Sarasota Orchestra, and Los Angeles Philharmonic.
