Orchestras, camps, master classes, lessons, classes: There are more and more options for live, truly interactive online music and language learning going on here at Lessonface, and we have to salute the teachers who are coming up with their own concepts, as well as those who are rolling with ours and making them their own!
In this recent unprecedented time, we on team Lessonface have been more proud than ever of the phenomenal teacher community here, who have been taking on wave after wave of new students with their usual grace, style, and professionalism, not to mention teaching acumen.
A huge bravo to all of the excellent performers in last night's third annual Spring Recital, our biggest and I daresay our best one yet! We heard from guitarists, violinists, vocalists, ukulele players, flutists, songwriters, and pianists. It's really inspiring to see and hear the results of the students' and teachers' hard work, especially in those students we have been seeing for multiple recitals over the years!
Dorothy Parker once said “I hate writing, I love having written.” Writing can be difficult for many reasons, but one of the most common inhibitors is trouble focusing. There is a reason the old cliche of the novelist living in the woods exists. But the truth is, the optimal setting and conditions for writing are different for everyone. Some writers prefer absolute silence (try earplugs if this is you and you live in a noisy apartment building or neighborhood), while others listen to music or relaxing soundscapes as they write.
Lessonface has reached a huge milestone - we now have 1000 teachers on the platform in all sorts of music and language subjects! Online lessons are a critical tool in continuing education during widespread shelter-in-place measures. It’s exciting to watch our community grow and be able to provide such an important service to students all over the world.
For newcomers to the online teaching format, here are some tips to ease the transition, get comfortable with the Lessonface and Zoom platforms, and attract new students to your profile.
Nothing makes time fly faster than losing yourself in a creative project or hands-on craft. Here are some ways you can engage your attention and make the most of your time at home.
As people all over the world strive to keep social distance and avoid large crowds, many live performances are being moved from their original venues to online streaming. Attending these virtual performances is a terrific way to stay musically inspired, support the performing arts community, and make the most of extra time at home.
In response to the coronavirus and the rapid shift to online learning that's happening as a result, Lessonface has made some changes to our operations:
We are rolling out a new series of classes, the GO Series, aimed to bring together students and teachers in a super-accessible way. Read more about those classes here.
We are very proud of the teacher community on Lessonface! Each teacher brings their own unique qualities to our roster and through that we see that there are many paths to online music teaching success.
