As a guitarist and guitar teacher, I’m often asked something along the lines of “How hard is it to learn to play guitar?” It’s a fair question, and like many questions that mirror this one, there isn’t a one size fits all answer. The idea is too large, even though the question is an appropriate one. The really unsatisfying short answer you’ll hear is “It’s as hard as you make it.” Instead, a better question might be “What can I do with the guitar, and how can I get there?”, though that is also asking something too big.
We all need a little more “levity” in our lives---moments when we can laugh with ourselves and relax a bit more with life’s experiences. And if we can help other people smile, then that’s even better!

Little did I know how much music would influence my life the day I first set my fingers on a piano keyboard. I first began piano lessons when I was five years old, my feet barely able to touch the pedals. Not only did I take weekly lessons, but I also participated in competitions and took annual listening and music theory exams. Soon, I started playing cello and French horn, as well as taking horseback riding, fencing, and dance lessons. Although I eventually decided to pause my music education once I entered into high school so that I could focus more on dance, I am still determined to
