I have 20+ years with over 20,000 hours of musical instrument teaching experience and a total of 30 years of guitar playing experience with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from the Chicago Music College of Roosevelt University. I teach acoustic guitar (6 & 12 string), electric guitar, classical guitar, jazz guitar, ukulele, bass (5 string), and tenor banjo (Irish tuning).

My basic vibe is, I am learning new things constantly, for example, I learned Paul Gilbert's Fuzz Universe and taught it to one of my students. No easy task for any player! I spent 12 years as a serious Spanish Classical player.

I have a wide range of familiarity in many genres including Rock, Jazz, Classical, and Country. I have taught all ages and levels of ability for over 3 decades.

When I was 13 I started playing guitar and fell in love. Through out school I continued to take orchestra, guitar and music theory until I graduated high school.

Timothy A. Helisek is the first place winner of the 2004 edition of the Normandale Composer’s Competition for his classical chamber piece 'Beauty in Sadness.' 'Dancing Towards the Sun,' also a chamber piece, won first place in the same competition in 2005, as well as second place in the Minnesota Music Educators Association Composition Contest the same year.

I began my music teaching journey back in 2012 after attending the University of Colorado Denver. I was pursuing a music degree and at the time I believed touring would be my main source of income. After I had my first guitar student my life path suddenly changed and I realized my passion for teaching.
