Shawn LeSure, a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory, has been playing the violin since the age of ten. Hecomes from a musical family; his older brother, a cellist, is a Juilliard graduate.

I am a chamber musician and music teacher. Currently, I work as Assistant Director of Sycamore Strings Academy, teaching violin individual and ensemble lessons, conducting the youth chamber orchestra, and coaching the adult chamber ensemble. Recent public performances have included accompanying choir and soloists in Handel's Messiah and Saunder Choi's Verum Corpus.

Hi! I’m Carlos, a professional violist from Mexico and currently in my final year of the Bachelor of Music program at Illinois State University. As a performer, I have appeared as a soloist with orchestra, presented recitals, and performed in both collegiate and professional orchestras as a section member and principal violist.

Music has always been at the centre of my life — as both an art and a language of expression. I’m a composer, violist, and educator with a PhD in Composition from the Royal Academy of Music in London, where I was mentored by Sir Harrison Birtwistle and Hans Abrahamsen.

Sometimes, I wish composing was as easy as making yogurt—once started, it would essentially create more of itself. Even though that is definitely not the case, I generally still take more enjoyment in the disorderly scrawls on the manuscript paper piling up on my desk than in the tangy bacteria cultures in my crockpot.

Violinist Emelyn Bashour (BM, Eastman School of Music; MM, University of Michigan) has performed across North and South America. During her studies she served as concertmaster of both U-M’s University Symphony Orchestra and the Eastman Philharmonia. She is also an alum of the New England Conservatory Preparatory School.

Taylor Sapanara has been teaching privately for 8 years. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Viola Performance from Arizona State University and is currently pursuing a Master's in Viola Performance from University of Colorado, Boulder. She has studied with viola pedagogues Susan Dubois, Jeffery Irvine, Carol Rodland, Nancy Buck, and Erika Eckert.
