Great Fiber Arts Classes with Expert Teachers Online

Hello! I'm Leeman Smith, a dedicated textile artist and illustrator based in Raleigh. My journey with textile arts began as a personal exploration, and now I’m excited to share my passion through teaching. In my Small Tapestry Weaving Workshop, I guide students step-by-step through the basics of weaving, using simple, everyday materials like cardboard looms and household tools.

Emily learned to knit three times – once when she was a kid, once during college, and again about five years later. The last time, it stuck. She's been designing knitting patterns since 2011 and tries to hit the sweet spot with patterns that are fun and engaging to knit, but also easy to understand.

Cecilia Ho of Greenville, SC, was born into a family of designers in Hong Kong. Since 2013, Cecilia relocated to South Carolina from Canada, and has taught thousands of students through one-one-one private & group felting workshops.

Cecelia Campochiaro appeared on the knitting scene in 2015 with her debut book, Sequence Knitting. Knitting was a casual pastime until she had an ah-ha moment in 2010 and realized that interesting textured fabrics could be created by the simple repetition of a sequence of stitches. Sequence Knitting is about texture, and her second book, Making Marls, is about color.

Lisa Graves is an international weaving instructor located in Ontario, Canada where she runs her own studio, Kawartha Weaving.

Beth began weaving in 1970. She is a student of Norman Kennedy, has had two extensive stays in Japan to study folk textiles, and holds an MFA in textiles from Georgia State University. A Folk School instructor since 1983, Beth currently lives in western North Carolina, where she weaves and teaches. She completed yoga teacher training through Asheville Yoga Center in 2011.

Emily Simon is a passionate fiber artist and educator with years of experience in the art of spinning. Her journey into the world of fiber arts began with a fascination for traditional crafts and a desire to preserve the rich heritage of spinning. Emily has honed her skills through extensive practice and study.

Laura is a contemporary Renaissance woman living and working on her family’s century-old homestead farm outside Hayward, WI. From fiber arts to creative writing, music to storytelling, she never tires of the magic of transforming idea into form and overlapping narrative and visual.

Heather Storta has been passionate about knitting from her first lesson in 2003. As a devoted lifelong learner, the minute she learned about TKGA and the Master Knitter program, she signed up. She became a TKGA-Certified Master Knitter in 2014 and was immediately asked to serve on the MHK Committee.

Martha Owen is an artisan/shepherd and resident artist at the John C Campbell Folkschool (www.folkschool.org) in Brasstown, NC. She oversees classes in spinning/knitting,crochet/feltmaking /surface design and dyeing. Her adventure in spinning began here in 1978.
