Music education is unarguably one of the surest ways to develop the IQ and to infuse, in both children and adults, certain unquestionable characters needed for all-round success in life such as consistency/tenacity, confidence, determination, creativity (solution-orientedness), timeliness, spiritual commitment, diligence and teamwork to mention a few.

I am a woodwind specialist. My main instrument is flute/piccolo. Then I learned saxophone so I could play in jazz bands. Then I learned clarinet because it just seemed fun. I learned these instruments (and more) while getting my bachelor degree in Music Education at Kent State University 1996-2000.

I am a woodwind performer, composer and educator who loves to make serious subjects fun and fun subjects serious. I graduated from Eastman School of Music in 2012 as the only Rogers Scholar in my class, and received a PhD in Music Performance and Composition from New York University in spring 2022.

A veteran music teacher who's has been teaching in the public school system for 22 years, I enjoy helping students learn to play music. Many of those years I also taught private music lessons at local music studios. In 2020, when having to pivot to online teaching, I learned to enjoy teaching music remotely and would like to continue that in teaching private lessons.

I've been a professional musician since the age of 14 having the good luck of being able to play all across America, Alaska, Europe, South America, Central America and Indonesia. I've played in big bands, latin bands, funk bands, classic rock bands, jazz bands, recording studios, TV, pit bands, and original bands. I love teaching Sax, Trumpet, Guitar, Theory, and Improv.
