Julie Benac has been in the world of fiber arts since 2006, and has been in the cut & sew industry for over 30 years. Her creative focus today is marrying the art of fashion sewing with fiber arts to create a unique niche that appeals to everyone.

Lauren “Ren” Tysinger (they/them) come from a long line of textile artists, tracing back to their great grandmother escaping Eastern Europe during the height of WWII who made a living for herself and her family with the craft she brought over to the States: lacemaking.

Emily Simon is a passionate fiber artist and educator with years of experience in the art of spinning. Her journey into the world of fiber arts began with a fascination for traditional crafts and a desire to preserve the rich heritage of spinning. Emily has honed her skills through extensive practice and study.

Geri creates mixed media art from her studio in Tennessee, teaches internationally, and her winning art is in museum collections. She was awarded an Appalachian Craft and Culture Fellowship at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts and has taught at John Campbell Folk School for 19 years.

Beth began weaving in 1970. She is a student of Norman Kennedy, has had two extensive stays in Japan to study folk textiles, and holds an MFA in textiles from Georgia State University. A Folk School instructor since 1983, Beth currently lives in western North Carolina, where she weaves and teaches. She completed yoga teacher training through Asheville Yoga Center in 2011.

Annie is a fifth generation Californian, now located in Fort Worth, Texas. Her love of quilting went from hobby to profession in 1984. While working in Silicon Valley for twenty years, she honed her teaching skills on-the-job as a Customer Service Excellence instructor and teaching quilting classes at the local quilt shop.

Hi everyone I’m Lisa Lamb, This is my 2nd year teaching at SAFF. I’m a long time knitter who’s been teaching knitting on a 1 to 1 basis for oh 20+ years now, and branched out of my comfort zone almost 3 years ago when I was asked to teach at my guilds Knit Inn. I really enjoyed the experience and I look forward to our Knit Inn even more now.

Harriet Boon was introduced to sheep and fiber in the early 1970’s, and earned a Master Spinner certificate from Georgian College in 1976. Since that time Harriet has instructed spinning, dyeing, and judging classes in Canada and in the USA. Her fiber addiction lead to establishing a small flock of English Leicester sheep in addition to a commercial flock.
