Handweaving Theory: How to Convert any Overshot Pattern to Doubleweave (First offering)

About Handweaving Theory: How to Convert any Overshot Pattern to Doubleweave (First offering)

Did you know that any overshot pattern can be woven as a 4 shaft doubleweave? It's true, and this patterned doubleweave (sometimes called complementary plain weave) alleviates the problem of long floats that weaving overshot can sometimes bring. The threading conversion is tedious to do by hand, so we'll use the weaving design software Fiberworks to get it done quickly and accurately. We'll cover some quick basics of the software that will enable you to do this transformation even if you've never used it before. We will cover three different recipes to convert overshot designs into doubleweave for three different loom setups: 4 shaft/4 treadle, 4 shaft/6 treadle, and 8 shaft/8 treadle. Plus we'll look at how to use Fiberwork's name-drafting tool, in order to set us up for designing doubleweave name drafts. So leave your float-length worries behind by converting those stunning overshot designs into amazing doubleweave drafts!

You do NOT need a copy of Fiberworks software for this class, but this class will help jump-start your journey using this or other weaving-design software.
