Béatrice Coron papercuts stories to create public art, artist books, wall art and animations. Born in France, she lived in Egypt, Mexico and China before moving to New York and start her artistic journey. Her work can be seen in major collections such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Walker Art Center.

Making art all my life, I began working as a professional artist in my home town, the Wildwoods, NJ, painting murals for local businesses and set backgrounds for high school plays, as well as teaching private and group art lessons.

I am a freelance illustrator with a passion for coaching students to excel in their field. After spending my life in India, I was the first woman from my family who left on her own in order to establish themselves abroad. At 22 years old I completed my masters in graphic design in the UK, after which I decided to stay and work here.

As a professional artist and educator, I love helping students build confidence and joy in their creative practice — whether an enthusiastic elementary school multimedia art maker or a teen exploring art as a possible career path. I meet each learner where they are, with patience and encouragement, building on their interests and natural excitement.

Since first encountering The Penland Book of Handmade Books at the public library in 2006, I have been passionate about making books and have been learning and practicing the crafts involved in making books – binding, making paper, marbling paper, creating book cloth, and woodworking.

I love encouraging creativity and appreciation for art.

I am a professional artist with over 20 years of experience and a Master’s degree in Painting and Fine Art. I have been teaching since 2005, working with students of all ages — from young children to aspiring professionals. My lessons focus on drawing, painting (oil, acrylic, watercolor), and portfolio preparation for art schools and colleges.
