The Pop Singer's Toolkit: Tips and Techniques from the Stars

Hello singing students!

|
Ever wanted to hone your pop singing skills to give dynamic performances? Want to find your own unique style and sing in a way that keeps your audience on the edge of their seats?
Check out my upcoming group voice class called the Pop Singers Tool Kit! In this class, I’ll teach you how to develop tools and techniques to perform pop music with artistry, power and your own unique tone. And there will be a supportive community of fellow singers, so you can get some feedback on all the skills you're working on.
You’ll develop skills like finding your powerful belt—that really iconic, epic tone to create amazing moments and take your audience on a journey. And then I’ll help you find the contrast between your belt and your more ethereal head voice tone. And that dynamic contrast is something that really defines pop music. We'll also just help you sing beautiful classics with sincerity and emotion and that's really what good pop music is all about!
Here are some of the other skills we’ll master:
1. Learn to belt with an open, powerful tone.
2. Perform lyrics with emotional depth that captivates the listener.
3. Incorporate speech-like inflections to make your singing relatable and unique.
4. Embrace your voice’s natural quirks to stand out from the crowd.
5. Create simple variations in your runs to take the audience on a journey.
6. Use scoops and slides to make your melodies flow naturally.
7. Emphasize rhythms and grooves to help your audience feel the beat.
8. Find your mix to expand your high belting range and prevent vocal fatigue.
9. Soar into your falsetto for dynamic and melodic contrast.
10. Explore blues scales to infuse more soul into your melodies.
11. Add warmth to your tone to create a comforting sound that resonates with audiences.
12. Make intentional choices about breath control to express emotion and create varied vocal colors.
