I started playing clarinet in a very good public school band program. My high school band was good enough to perform at Yankee Stadium during the World Series in 1976. Upon graduating from high school in 1980 I attended Montclair State University where I studied clarinet, saxophone and flute, graduating in 1986 with a degree in music education.

BIO Aidan O’Connor is an emerging band leader, saxophonist, and composer. He is influenced by the likes of Lester Young, John Coltrane, and Sonny Stitt. Aidan plays in a personal style, while still invoking the mainstream jazz tradition. Aidan graduated from the Eastman School of Music in the Spring of 2019, where he earned a BM in Jazz and Contemporary Media.

I'm a Berklee Professor, saxophonist, clarinetist and author. As a D'Addario Performing Artist, I've performed & given workshops in Europe, Asia, the US, & the Caribbean. I am a music educator, performer, and composer with a Master’s Degree in Music from New York University (2021) and a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a minor in Music & Technology from Stony Brook University (2019), where I graduated Summa Cum Laude. My training includes instrumental performance, composition, conducting, and music technology.

Originally from a tiny town in the Sierra Foothills in Northern California, I started taking piano lessons at the age of 9. Through the school band I picked up the clarinet and bass clarinet, and in high school my curiosity got the best of my and I learned how to play my grandpa’s cornet using a fingering chart printed from the Internet.
