Singing and Playing Traditional Folk Songs
Singing and Playing Traditional Folk Songs with Aubrey Atwater
Sit "knee to knee" (or rather, screen to screen!) with Aubrey for a singing, playing, historical, and cultural adventure! Folk songs leave no stones unturned when it comes to portraying the human experience. Aubrey will draw from her extensive repertoire of traditional American, Appalachian, and Anglo-Celtic folk songs with themes of work, the sea, humor, love, childhood, play, dance, ballads, nature, protest, and more. Sessions will involve group singing and playing instrument(s) of your choice if you wish, listening, discussing, and sharing a song (optional) of your own. Fun!
This small group class is presented in collaboration with John C. Campbell Folk School and Lessonface. Students are invited to attend an optional Orientation and Closing Ceremony to connect with various online Folk School classes.
