Two Day Introduction to Multi-Shaft Weaving with Beth Truesdale

About Two Day Introduction to Multi-Shaft Weaving with Beth Truesdale

Students in this two-day class will experience every aspect of multi-shaft weaving; planning a project, winding warp chains, threading a loom and weaving.  Students will work in pairs to fully set up a loom.  After completing the warping process students will then weave projects on several different looms, both table looms and floor looms.  There will be a total of twelve looms, each with a different warp color and weaving pattern, some will be cotton "rag rug" style with cotton rug warp and fabric rag strips for weft, others will be wool warp and weft. Weaving projects are mug rugs and hot pads.  Features and uses of different types of looms, shuttles, warping tools, etc. will be discussed.  Students will also be instructed on how to finish their projects at home.

Beth Truesdale

Beth Truesdale has been a fiber arts enthusiast for over 50 years. An active spinner and weaver since the mid 1980’s, Beth has been teaching others for nearly as long as she has been involved in fiber arts. With many successful new weavers to her credit, she enjoys sharing these skills with others as much as doing them herself. Beth has been teaching spinning, knitting, and tatting for over 30 years. In addition to teaching at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival, Beth regularly teaches weaving, knitting, tatting and spinning at New View FiberWorks in Leonardtown Maryland, where her numerous creations are also available for purchase.
