Learn from Great Brass Teachers

My name is Marie Burges, and I am a Band Director within my local school district. My bands have consistently made Excellent and Superior Ratings at District and State Evaluations. My primary instrument is the trumpet; however, I am experienced in teaching all brass and woodwind instruments.

Downbeat Magazine calls trombonist Mariel Bildsten “irrepressibly spontaneous." Mariel Bildsten headlines jazz festivals, plays around the country, and performs regularly in New York City, in the US, and internationally. Mariel has been featured onstage with Jon Batiste, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Jennifer Hudson, Roy Hargrove, and many others.

Kal Ferretti is a 21 year old jazz trumpet player based in New York City and is in her fourth year studying jazz trumpet performance at The New School for Jazz on a full scholarship. At school, Kal studies privately under Tatum Greenblatt and Alex Norris.

Hello! Thank you so much for visiting my profile! I was born and raised in Kentucky and fell in love with the trombone and music my freshman year of high school! I ended up deciding there was nothing that I was more passionate about and therefore elected to dedicate my life to music! My primary objective when teaching music is to fundamentally spread the love of music.

Melissa Salguero has been teaching music since 2009. According to her students, her love and passion for music are contagious and help keep them motivated. Her accomplishments include building a music program from the ground up and overcome the challenges faced when those instruments were stolen.

Dr. Stephen Whimple, hailing from Clifton Park, New York, is a freelance musician and educator based in the Hudson Valley. From 2022 to 2024, he performed with the Orchestra Now as an orchestral fellow. Dr. Whimple served as an Instructor and Graduate Teaching Assistant at The University of Alabama.

With over 15 years of experience as a dedicated music educator and director, I have cultivated a diverse career teaching K-12 music, conducting university bands, and providing private instruction in piano and wind instruments. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (Music) from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.

Hello! My name is Jacob Hartis and I play the French Horn! I have several years of experience in private instruction and nearly 10 years of professional performing experience! I received my Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance from Young Harris College and I am expected to graduate in May with my Master's Degree in Music Performance at Georgia State University.

I performed in the Rose Bowl Parade multiple times and toured nationwide for two years as a trumpet soloist for the Santa Clara Vanguard. I've participated with many different groups ranging from rock bands to church choirs and concert orchestras. I played principal trumpet and sang solos for several years with Mariachi Cielo Azul, and I now specialize in jazz and music education.
