Learn from Great Tuba Teachers

As a Middle School Band director for 30 years, I learned how to get the best out of students. So many students learn poor habits that prevent them from enjoying the instrument. I am skilled at diagnosing the physical issues, but also very attuned to the social and emotional needs of students.

Born and raised in the South East of England, I began learning the tuba at the age of 12. At 14, I won a scholarship to study as a Junior Exhibitioner at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where I studied with Paul Lawrence (London Philharmonic Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra).

Hello current and future students! My name is Zach Garcia and I am a tuba, trombone, and euphonium/baritone teacher. I'm looking forward to getting to know you! As for me and my background, I first got interested in performing music when I joined my school band in the 6th grade as a tuba player.

I am a professional brass instructor and performer based in Pittsburgh, PA. I have ten years of teaching experience at all age levels, including teaching private lessons, middle school ensembles, high school ensembles, masterclasses, and university level instruction.

Zach Marley is an award-winning low brass artist and teacher. Equally versed on all low brass instruments, Zach has been very successful in international competitions on multiple instruments. He was awarded second prize in the prestigious Leonard Falcone Artist Tuba competition in 2015, 2016, and 2018.

I started learning the tuba when I was nine years old, thanks to my school’s music department where I had one-to-one lessons and played in county and regional groups. Over time, I progressed to national ensembles like the National Youth Orchestra, National Youth Orchestra Wales, and the National Youth Brass Band of Wales.

I hold degrees in trombone performance and music education from Florida Southern College and the University of South Florida. I have played trombone all over the Tampa area where I play on recordings for independent film scores, perform as a pit musician at the Straz Center, and hold the

I'm a professional trombonist based in the USA. I perform mostly with orchestras in the Northeast (Columbus, Cincinnati, Buffalo, Rochester) but I also work frequently with orchestras abroad. I studied music at Duquesne University (BA) and at the Royal Academy of Music in London (PGdip).

I ended up deciding there was nothing that I was more passionate about and therefore elected to dedicate my life to music!
