She is trained in both jazz and classical theory, and holds a BA in Music from Vassar College, where she was awarded the Elisabeth Locke Scholarship in music. She was a 2024 Audiofemme Agenda Grant Finalist and won a 2025 Wavy Award for the Live Performance Category.

Hi, I’m Shona, I am a very passionate music tutor with over 6 years of teaching experience and nearly 20 years of musical experience. I specialise in bass and drums, and also teach students violin, vocals, and music theory. My teaching journey has taken me from music academies to private music schools and today, I offer in-person bass and drum lessons from my home studio.

Hi! I’m Brian Zimmerman, a lifelong musician, passionate educator, and the founder of Bravo Beats. I’ve been playing drums and percussion for over 20 years, and teaching for more than a decade. Music has taken me across stages, classrooms, studios, and recording sessions—and now, it brings me into the homes of families across Bergen County.

I am a passionate music teacher, performer, and songwriter with a deep belief in music as a path to self-expression, connection, and transformation. With years of experience across multiple genres — from rock and blues to world music and singer-songwriter traditions — I guide students not just in technique, but in finding their unique voice and musical identity.

Justin Douté is a drum, classical percussion, hand drumming, and basic piano instructor. He attended the Denver School of the Arts for Music and the Manhattan School of Music. While an undergraduate, he overcame three leukemia diagnoses and later completed his Bachelor’s in Music Performance at the University of North Florida.

Gwen Wahman has performed with such Jazz legends as Ron Carter, Elvin Jones and Frank Gant (more listed below) and in Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Aaron Davis Hall, many NYC Jazz clubs and venues, Tavern on the Green and internationally.
