Ziya Tabassian began playing the tombak (Iranian drum) at the age of ten. After a brief initiation period in Iran, he continued his autodidactic training in Quebec, his adopted homeland. I have been involved with Drums and Music since 1995. A lifelong student myself, I am deeply passionate about learning, exploring and sharing the amazing world of Percussion with my students and peers. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Music from Western Washington University in 2006, and since then I have performed extensively across the country in clubs, theaters and festivals.

Hi! My name is Erik Markovskii. I’m a multi-instrumentalist, percussionist, and educator with more than 18 years of international performance and teaching experience. I specialize in a wide range of instruments — frame drum, darbuka, handpan (hang drum), cajón, djembe, daf, riqq, Caucasian nagara, and jaw harp (vargan) — connecting traditional and modern rhythmic languages.

I am a professional drummer, educator, and performer with more than 15 years of experience teaching students of all ages and skill levels. I graduated from Berklee College of Music and have performed internationally in a wide variety of musical styles including jazz, Latin music, Colombian folk music, pop, rock, and world music.
