My background is in jazz and rock on the Western drum set but I have accrued experience playing a variety of percussion instruments including tabla, tombak, daf, riq, congas, and timbales.

He is the brother of the late kathak dancer, Pandit Chitresh Das. His parents had a music and dance academy, Nritya Bharati, the first of its kind in Kolkata after the Independence of India.
