I began my musical journey at the age of 8, studying violin, adding piano at age 16 and performing vocally from the age of 8. I have participated in orchestras from ages 13-18, choirs from the ages of 6-present. I was a soprano soloist in the Youth for Understanding Chorale's tour to South America and Europe, recording as a soloist at Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor Michigan.

I am a classically trained violist, violinist, and pianist with over 14 years of teaching experience. I started learning piano at age 5 and began studying viola and violin at age 10. I have been teaching in person and virtually at Queen City Music Studio in Cincinnati since 2019, working with students of various ages and levels.

With performance experience as varied as she is, Vivian Murphy's main passion remains connecting with others. When she discovered how profound that connection was through experiences like connecting with dementia patients who had hardly spoken a word for 3 years by playing their favorite song, she knew she wanted to be a musician professionally.

Born and educated in Rome, moved to the UK to complete a course of academic studies in music, first as an undergraduate at Edinburgh University (Bachelor of Music with Honours) and then as a postgraduate at Huddersfield University.

I began playing the cello at the age of 5. My father Michael Flaksman, a world-renowned American cellist and teacher, was one of the major influences of my teaching and playing. I attended the Cleveland Institute of Music, the Juilliard School, and the University of Mannheim in Germany.

I am a violinist pursuing a Master of Music degree at the Mannes School of Music in the studio of Stefan Jackiw. I earned a Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance from the Boston University School of Music under the tutelage of Klaudia Szlachta and Yuri Mazurkevich.

I am a concert violinist and dedicated violin teacher, and a featured artist for iClassical Academy. My unique journey began with my father, a Master violin maker, who immersed me deeply into the world of the violin from a very young age.
