Advanced Knit Fixes: Cables and Lace with Amy Snell
About Advanced Knit Fixes: Cables and Lace with Amy Snell
Mistakes in cables and lace can be intimidating to fix, but when we break down the process, you’ll see you already possess most of the requisite skills.
In this class, you’ll learn how to identify which stitches to drop, how to drop down sections of your work securely and how to keep track of rows while you knit them back up.
Materials, Equipment, and Supplies the Student Must Bring to Class
Your homework swatches. Several extra yards of the worsted weight yarn used to knit your swatches, dpns at least two sizes smaller than the needles used in your swatches, locking stitch markers or coil-less safety pins, a tapestry needle, and a crochet hook in size H, I, or J (5.0, 5.5, or 6.0 mm), blocking pins, a 6 x 6” piece of cardboard or foam core board.
Materials Fee (to be paid directly to the instructor)
$5 - includes full-color handout.
Pre-class Homework
Before class begins, please knit three swatches in a smooth, light-colored, worsted-weight yarn, using the size needles you usually use for worsted-weight (usually US #7-9). Leave the swatches on the needles and do not bind off.
Swatch 1: Cast on 30 stitches and knit approximately 4 inches in stockinette stitch, working flat.
Swatches 2 and 3: Follow the instructions in the pre-class homework pdf.
