About Navajo Hand Spinning with TahNibaa Naataanii
This introductory course will teach each student how to spin wool the Navajo way, using a Navajo lap spindle. Students will have a demonstration and instructions on how to card wool using hand carders. Students will learn how to spin wool using the “S” and “Z” twist methods and the Navajo 3-ply method. Throughout the class, discussions on what can be created using hand spun wool will be shared along with personal stories of the Naataanii family.
Materials, Equipment, and Supplies the Student Must Bring to Class
Apron and reading glasses
Materials Fee (to be paid directly to the instructor)
$100 - includes Navajo spindle, wool, carded rolags, and carded batt

This live in-person seminar will meet on Friday, May 1, from 9am-4pm with a one hour lunch break, for a total of 6 hours of instruction.
