Great Fiber Arts Classes with Expert Teachers Online

I was raised in an environment steeped in textile arts, guided and inspired by my mother and both of my grandmothers, all of whom were exceptionally skilled fiber artists. I began studying bobbin lace in 2010 after encountering it at a historical reenactment, and around the same time I started creating handmade buttons while producing period clothing for family and friends.

Elizabeth Whitton is a mompreneur who turned her love of wool into a thriving family-run needle felting business called Felted Sky. A self-taught needle felter, she has a knack for designing beautiful small projects that she has turned into a line of needle felting kits suitable for beginners.

Elaina is the shepherdess at Avillion Farm in Efland, NC where she tends flocks of Shetland and Jacob sheep, Angora goats, Suri Alpaca, and cares for a large herd of Angora rabbits. After 30+ years raising fiber-producing livestock and experiencing lots of fibers in various stages of preparation and utilization, I still enjoy all aspects of fiber production, processing and making.

Eileen Hallman has been spinning, weaving, and dyeing cotton with natural dyes since the early 1980's. She uses her handspun as weft in her weaving and either dyes the fiber before spinning, the yarn before weaving, or the fabric after weaving. She also dyes and marbles silk.

Diana Quinn is a seasoned quilter and embroidery artist, and she brings her lifetime love of textiles to this class. She learned to sew and embroider with her mother, grandmother, and aunt and has crafted several award-winning quilts since starting her quilting adventure in 2012.

Crystal Hesser has been spinning yarn for over a decade. She’s a regular contributor to Ply and Tiny Studios Magazines and is the creative mind behind Spin Up Girl. She shares her fiber exploits on Instagram at @spin_up_girl. Her specialties are inspired art yarns and supported spinning, but is also well-versed in traditional styles.

Kim Langley founded YarnStory, an LYS in Honolulu, where she taught hundreds of people to knit and introduced many to the joy of hand knit socks.
