Great Fiber Arts Classes with Expert Teachers Online

Since first encountering The Penland Book of Handmade Books at the public library in 2006, I have been passionate about making books and have been learning and practicing the crafts involved in making books – binding, making paper, marbling paper, creating book cloth, and woodworking.

Deborah Jarchow is a full-time weaver, author, designer, and artist who has exhibited at galleries and museums across the country winning numerous awards. She travels from her Arizona home sharing weaving enthusiasm and expertise. As a nationally recognized teacher, Deborah is known as a generous educator who makes weaving accessible and exciting to students of all levels.

Penny Morgan (Prichard) has been involved with teaching cooking to adults since 2000. An accomplished fiber artist, Penny loves to share tips and inspiration with quilters, embroiderers and wool applique fans of all skill levels. Penny has been teaching online courses since 2002. As an instructor for East Carolina University she has taught food labs online to many students.

Rusty Boyd has been a crocheter since the age of 9. At age 34, he took his first knitting class and was “hooked.” Since that time he has taught himself to knit lace, cables, stranded, mosaic and more. After attending his first Men’s Knitting Retreat, Rusty had his first pattern published by Skacel for their Simplicity Men’s Booklet.

Today, Folkwear is based in Asheville, NC, under the leadership of Molly Hamilton. Molly learned to sew at a very young age, taught by her grandmother, a talented seamstress. Sheryl Kessler attended the University of the Arts and graduated from Philadelphia University (Jefferson University). She has taught privately and at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts Continuing Education program. Sheryl has been working with textiles since 1984 beginning with machine knitting.

Gayle Roehm is a former management consultant who now devotes herself to knitting and other fiber arts. She teaches nationally for knitting events, guilds and yarn shops. Her designs have been featured in Knitter’s, Interweave Knits, A Gathering of Lace, and other publications. She has also sold work at a fiber arts gallery.

Amy Shelton is a fiber artist, instructor, and crochet designer. For the last eight years, she has owned SPARKLE Studio, a working and teaching fiber arts studio and local yarn shop located at the historic Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment in Huntsville, AL. She is an expert crocheter who has been crocheting since the age of 9.

Lisa Graves is an international weaving instructor located in Ontario, Canada where she runs her own studio, Kawartha Weaving. Lisa's passion for weaving education led to her dedicating six years to volunteering on the Board of the Ontario Handweavers and Spinners (OHS), where she is currently serving as President with a strong focus on preserving the certification of weaving…

Sue Dial hand crafts one of a kind yarns, wearables, and felted items using locally grown fiber, including that from her own rabbits and dogs. She also creates unique jewelry, housewares, and accessories for knitters using polymer clay, and expertly ties salon quality fairy hair, upon request. :)
