Martha Owen is an artisan/shepherd and resident artist at the John C Campbell Folkschool (www.folkschool.org) in Brasstown, NC. She oversees classes in spinning/knitting,crochet/feltmaking /surface design and dyeing. Her adventure in spinning began here in 1978.

Hello! I'm Leeman Smith, a dedicated textile artist and illustrator based in Raleigh. My journey with textile arts began as a personal exploration, and now I’m excited to share my passion through teaching. In my Small Tapestry Weaving Workshop, I guide students step-by-step through the basics of weaving, using simple, everyday materials like cardboard looms and household tools.

JoEl Levy LoGiudice is a full-time studio artist from Ashland City, Tennessee whose work is celebrated across the Southeast. She is also an experienced instructor, who makes every class a creative adventure. She has taught at the Appalachian Center for Craft, Tennessee Tech, Arrowmont, the John C. Campbell Folk School, and SEFAA and is known for her expertise and infectious energy.

Elizabeth Whitton is a mompreneur who turned her love of wool into a thriving family-run needle felting business called Felted Sky. A self-taught needle felter, she has a knack for designing beautiful small projects that she has turned into a line of needle felting kits suitable for beginners.

Julie has been raising fiber animals since her teens, first on her family farm and now at her own ranch. Building on her love for teaching and design, her college studies focused on secondary education and costume design. After school , raising fiber animals naturally led to spinning and weaving and then into instructing across the country.

Melanie has been enamored with all things fiber since her grandmother taught her to knit and crochet when she was five or six years old. She has spent a lifetime delving deeply into every fiber art you can imagine. She has even travelled to Peru and Bolivia to study knitting and to Mexico and Guatemala to study Mayan backstrap weaving and embroidery.

Nharah Clark is a fiber artist, instructor, and historic textile specialist. For the last six years, she has co-owned SPARKLE Studio, a working and teaching fiber arts studio located at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment in Huntsville, AL. She is deeply immersed in historic reenactment and has devoted 25 years to learning and teaching the fiber arts methods of the past.

Emolyn learned to knit at a young age without patterns which led her to also spin and dye yarn and wool. She has developed a line of handknits and yarns, and designs knitwear inspired by the yarn. She manages her business, The Roving Knitter, teaches people of all ages to knit and shows her work at craft shows and exhibits.

Cassie Dickson is a heritage member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild, specializing in spinning, natural dyeing, and the traditional arts of coverlet and linen weaving. With a passion for preserving historical craftsmanship, Cassie grows flax and processes the fiber into linen, and she raises silkworms and transforms their cocoons into beautiful silk fabric.

Martha’s work is inspired by a deep respect for pre-industrial hand craft and informed by generations of sewers in the family.
