Artist Talk with JoEl Levy Logiudice
About Artist Talk with JoEl Levy Logiudice
Where do artists find inspiration? What shapes our collective memory of ideas? At what point do materials and process begin to guide the direction of a work, and do carefully planned designs leave space for spontaneity? These questions often guide the creative journey, helping artists discover the messages they hope to share through their work.
In this artist talk, JoEl Levy Logiudice shares the path that led her from university art professor and gallery director to arts administrator and now full-time studio artist. Drawing on personal experiences, places she has visited, and people she has encountered, JoEl explores the influences behind her work and the processes that bring each piece to life. While she identifies as a fiber artist, her practice embraces mixed media and a wide range of techniques, including reverse dyeing, rust dyeing, shibori, sakiori weaving, tapestry, beadwork, embroidery, sashiko, felting, printing, and fabric collage. Through visuals and storytelling, JoEl will highlight the experimentation and exploration that shape each new body of work and invite conversation as participants reflect on the stories and ideas that inspire their own creative practices.
