Watercolors are vibrant, versatile, and endlessly enjoyable, and this thoughtfully designed class series will guide you through the fundamentals.
In this class, you'll learn to create stunning watercolor paintings by exploring:
Wet-on-Wet Techniques
Wet-on-Dry Techniques
Color Theory and Mixing
Value and Form
Background Washes
Foreground and Background Structure
How to use brushes and other watercolor materials
Through hands-on practice, you'll become comfortable with various painting methods while producing multiple pieces that refine your skills and understanding of watercolor techniques.
Each class is 2 hours long, providing ample time for guided instruction and creative experimentation.
The capacity for this class is 25 students.
Class Materials
Students will want to provide:
Windsor Newton grade watercolor paint, watercolor brush set, watercolor paper, masking tape, two glasses of water
Optional - Masking Fluid, Hairdryer
Class Goals
Goal for week 1 - learn basic techniques, water control
Goal for week 2 - learn color wheel, color mixing, and swatch colors
Goal for week 3 - introduction to value, learn how to make lines and trees
Goal for week 4 - learn how to create gradients
Goal for week 5 - learn how to make objects 3-D
Goal for week 6 - put it all together!
