In this beginner-friendly group class, you'll discover Fraktur—a bold, expressive style of calligraphy with centuries of history. Starting with the fundamentals, you'll learn how to use a broad-edge pen, form elegant letterforms, and create balanced compositions.
No experience is required. Just curiosity and a willingness to slow down and enjoy the process.
By the end of the course, you'll have the skills to create your own Fraktur lettering and a collection of finished pieces to take home.

Class Goals
- 1. Learn the fundamental strokes and principles of Fraktur calligraphy.
2. Develop proper pen control, letter construction, spacing, and rhythm.
3. Build confidence writing both lowercase and uppercase Fraktur letterforms.
4. Create words, quotes, and simple compositions with balance and consistency.
5. Explore the history, structure, and distinctive character of the Fraktur script.
6. Leave with the skills and inspiration to continue your calligraphy practice.

No prior experience with calligraphy is required.
This class is for complete beginners. It is also for anyone curious about Fraktur and traditional blackletter lettering. You are welcome to explore this art form.
No knowledge of calligraphy terms or systems is needed.
I will introduce the basics in the first session. We will learn through demonstration. We will also use guided practice. Step-by-step instruction will be provided.
