More Frequently Asked Questions About Recitals on Lessonface:
Are Lessonface's recitals recorded?
Every recital is recorded and stored securely in the Lessonface platform, with replay access available exclusively to users who sign up.
If you prefer not to be recorded, simply let the host know before you play, when she asks, or over the text chat.
How long are the virtual recitals?
Lessonface's virtual recitals are typically 30 min to an hour. We endeavor to keep them under an hour.
Can we go first / last / a specific time?
Send a chat to the host when you sign in with any requests about the performance order.
Can students perform more than one piece?
If the pieces are over 2 minutes, we ask performers to wait until everyone has performed once to perform their second piece.
What age students typically take part in the recitals?
Students of all ages perform in the online recitals. We have one recital that is encouraged for adults.
Is there any dress code?
Students should dress to be comfortable and confident. Some performers do dress up, especially around the holidays, but it is not mandatory.
Should each performer introduce themselves?
Usually the host will set an expectation for introductions at the beginning, including asking for each student to say their name and the title of the piece they are going to perform. This is not mandatory.
Can students send in a recording to be played in the recital instead of performing live?
We encourage live performance! There are many benefits to learning to be comfortable and to even enjoy the pressure of performing in front of an audience. If you really, really would prefer to record your piece and submit it, we do ask you to be present while it is played.
Is there anything I need to do to be ready technically?
Make sure you have Original Sound for Musicians enabled in Zoom. If you are not sure, join a little early to soundcheck with the host, and check out this article about Zoom audio for musicians. Students and audience members should be muted when not performing, other than to possibly unmute themselves after each performance to applaud the performer.
I need to perform with a backing track or accompaniment. How do I enable that?
If you would like to share the screen with audio, send a note to the host so they can give you sharing capabilities. Playing over the mic is also an option. Make sure you have Original Sound for Musicians enabled. It would be a good idea to sign in a few minutes early to check in on this with the host.
Is the recording of the recital shared publicly by Lessonface?
No, the recital recording is only visible to performers and audience members who have signed up for the recital ahead of time on Lessonface.
We love to see students performing, whether in one of our recitals, a master class, or social media! Please tag us on social media with your performance posts.
We signed up for the wrong recital date! How do we switch?
Reach out to [email protected] and we are happy to change your sign up date.
The recital date I wanted is full, will more dates be added?
Recitals do book up - we limit the number of performers so each recital does not go too long. If most recitals are booked we may add more dates. Please reach out to us with any requests and we will do our best to accommodate.
