We asked 2025 Lessonface Teacher of the Year in Electric Guitar and Ukulele, Brad Ward, to share insights into his journey as a musician and educator. What drew you to learning the electric guitar? Why do you think it is popular (or perhaps should be more popular)?
A love for rock music pulled me into learning guitar. Guitar is the ultimate instrument with so many different ways to approach it.
How would you describe your teaching studio?
Dual monitors as well as a versatile amp setup for using multiple guitar tones depending on the style I'm teaching in any lesson.
If you could gift your students one piece of automatic knowledge or ability about the electric guitar or ukulele, what would it be?
Be patient with yourself and enjoy the journey because it's never-ending.
What are some of your most indispensable pieces of gear?
A footstool, a comfortable chair, Tonex Pedal, and a Spark 2 Practice Amp.
What are some gear items that you wish all your students had?
A footstool.
